He Always Shows Up

Life isn't easy. There are many days for many of us when we get up and aren't quite sure we can do another day. Another day of screaming children, a grumpy spouse, or a thankless job. Some of us give up. We leave the situation and try to start over somewhere new where "things will be better." But I'm here to tell you that the better doesn't come from the situation, it comes from the One who is in the situation with you.

I spent a lot of my life trying to make things better by myself, trying to get ahead, trying to make more money, find the right person, all of it. But what I'm finding more and more, is that Jesus really is where it's at. Even if my situation is hard, I can make it with Him. Even if my loved ones are difficult, I can find peace in Him.

Even if I want to give up, I can count on Him to show up.

There are countless stories in the world today, throughout history, and of course in the bible, where people laid down and just gave up. God stepped in and showed up in every single one of those stories. My husband and I have felt more and more that God needs to be the center of our lives. Not just the center but the point of our lives. That we want to really walk the walk. We've always been thankful for what we've had, in any situation, and He has blessed us greatly but we want to go deeper than that.

And He's already showed up. From a new person to work with and help me get my schedules straight, to people to help with housework, to people to help with my help. He's made it so clear that He's in it with me and more than ready to bless, all the while calling me deeper into a relationship with Him. And He doesn't just bring the resources, He brings the encouragement, confirmation on what I think He's said, kind words from friends and family at just the right time. I could keep going forever because His mercy and presence just never stops.

So challenge yourself. Ask Him to show up. He always does.
