Walking By Faith

"Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours."

-Mark 11:24

There's something incredibly special to God about believing. A woman reached out to touch Jesus' clothes and her faith made her well. A centurion told Jesus that he didn't even need to come to see his sick servant, but if Jesus willed it they would be healed anyway. Abraham believed for Isaac even though Sara was way too old. In each case God's reaction is one of great pleasure, the faith displayed brought God's approval, every need fulfilled every desire granted.

It's easy to get into the bible stories and become the typical third-party viewer who wants them to live the life of the truly faithful. However, when we get into our own story and our car dies or our child gets sick or our husband's eyes are wandering we forget the lessons and we start taking things into our own hands. We take them out of God's and we start doubting God's commitment. We look to alternatives and doing whatever we can to make it work because why would God show up for us?

But God DOES, and He REALLY shows up. When we have the faith to believe in Him, that faith is like that the spout through which the Holy Spirit pours. Because the Nazarenes had no faith Jesus couldn't work miracles. But, when the people of God do have faith, Nothing is impossible. That's when the sick get healed, the dead get raised, you walk on water and nothing can stand in your way. Truly that is an amazing God, but bear in mind nothing gets easier. You better believe the Devil steps up his game. And yet in spite of that everything in your life becomes fuller.

Look, I'm not saying that just because you want it, it's yours. God is a good father, and any good father will not simply give their children whatever they desire. But the thing is, if you are someone who has the sort of faith talked about above and mentioned in Mark 11:24, your desires will likely line up with God's. Because faith is something that starts with the Holy Spirit in you. Faith is something you ask for, and God provides.

So ask, and then walk out in the confidence that it has been given.
